The Dive Experience
Diving in Coiba is not just about the dive sites; it’s an immersive experience in one of the world’s last unspoiled marine environments. The park encompasses over 38 islands and islets, each presenting unique dive opportunities. From colorful coral reefs to underwater Pinnacles, the diversity of dive sites caters to both novice and experienced divers.
One of the most popular sites are the Contreras Islands, known for its dramatic underwater topography and abundant marine life. Here, divers can encounter everything from schools of tropical fish to majestic manta rays and even hammerhead sharks. The vibrant coral gardens provide a kaleidoscope of colors, making each dive a visual feast.
Marine Life
Coiba is part of the Eastern Tropical Pacific, one of the richest marine ecosystems in the world. Divers can expect to see an array of species, including sea turtles, dolphins, and a myriad of colorful fish. The nutrient-rich waters support large populations of pelagic species, ensuring that every dive is a chance to witness the ocean's wonders. For wildlife enthusiasts, the chance to encounter whales during migration season adds another layer of excitement.
Conservation and Responsibility
Diving in Coiba comes with a responsibility to preserve its delicate ecosystems. The national park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and conservation efforts are in place to protect its natural beauty. Divers are encouraged to practice responsible diving techniques, such as avoiding contact with coral and marine life, to help maintain the integrity of this unique environment.
Logistics and Expeditions
We offer dive expeditions that include equipment rental, guided dives, and transportation to the various dive sites. A typical day trip includes multiple dives, lunch, and the opportunity to relax on the beach between dives. Be sure to book in advance, especially during peak seasons, to secure your spot.
